Nobody Reads Reviews
I hear the guys who made this have been joking about it since 2007. Its a passion project and I am kind of proud a couple funny, stoner writers got to make an adult animated movie. That being said it makes me feel old, because I didn’t find it funny. It did have some religious allegories in it, which I found amusing. Some of the characters blatantly represented the conflict in the middle east, which was clever enough. The first thing I saw about this film before the trailer even was a coloring book, which showed suggestive imaging and I thought “How are they going to pull this off”?
They kind of do, they kind of don’t. This film has a hand full of Oscar nominees in it for God’s sake. Edward Norton’s Sammy Bagel Jr, it was a spot on impersonation of Woody Allen, which gave me internal giggles. So this movie IS clever, I have to admit that. I guess what makes me the most upset about it is it didn’t make me laugh. GhostBusters made me laugh more than this film and while I enjoyed the bits of story and characters, I just didn’t find it that amusing. Also I didn’t get the groups who were mad about the Taco’s sexual orientation (lets not take this all too seriously now).
I personally don’t think I took it too serious. Its a spoof of Pixar and other animated films with a message and their tropes. Another animated flick – SP: Bigger, Longer & Uncut made me laugh a ton when I first saw it, but I was 11. But I still smile at alot of those jokes now. I’m trying to rationalize why this thing is so favorable among everyone. In the end comedy is subjective. If you decide to go see this, I hope you like it. Maybe I should just do more bath salts.
It all ends in this **Spoilers**…. giant food orgy.. Im not finding a Taco eating out a Bun entertaining, no matter how they set it up. I give the film a 2/5
